he Statement of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Georgia November 14,1990 is the most important date in the recent history of Georgia.Due to elections held on a multi-party,parity basis,in full compliance with international law,wich was headed by Zviad Gamsakhurdia,the leader of National Liberation Movement, the communist regime was over in Georgia. The logical continuation of this was referendum held on March 31,1991 wich confirmed the steadfastness of the Georgian nation to live in an independent State. On April 9,1991 Zviad Gamsakhurdia informed the world that Georgia became an independent state. On May 26,1991 Zviad Gamsakhurdia won the general elections and was declared President. Regardless a military criminal putsch,achived by the hostile forces of Georgia with the assistance of Russian military units and local traitors,the legitimate,elected by georgian people government-The Supreme Council and Government are functioning. The de facto restoration of legitimate government has no alternative.The Supreme Council of the Republic of Georgia calls to all citizens of Georgia to protect the resolution of Supreme Council of the Republic of Georgia-March 13,1992 condemning the putsch,wich is qualified as the treason. The legitimate government of the Republic of Georgia calls all international organizations,the governments of the democratic states and people of good will to support legal,elected government and peacfull fight of people of Georgia to restor legality. The Supreme council of the Republic of Georgia is confident that our mfair fight for the restoratio of legality successfully will end and this will be an example for the whole world.
