The border territory of Baja California and Tijuana perfectly represents the nearly seamless intermixing of Mexico and the United States. While the two countries may have increasingly complicated relationship, it has also created a perfect intersection for fútbol, food, and creativity. No one exemplifies this bubble more than Itzel Gonzalez, a goal keeper who crosses the border daily to play for Club Tijuana; and Chef Javier Plascencia, a Tijuana native who draws his inspiration and passion from both Mexico and America and incorporates it into his cuisine and renowned restaurants. One thing is for sure, the culture they are creating cannot be found anywhere else.

This is the second episode of a 3 part series, in collaboration with Lexus, exploring the identities of Latin American nations through the beautiful game.
