თბილისის ისტორია გოგირდოვანი წყლებით იწყება, საუკუნეების განმავლობაში ხალხი გოგირდოვან წყლებს აბანოების სახით იყენებდა, ამიტომაც გასული საუკუნის 30-იან წლებში უნიკალური პროექტი შეიქმნა ფიზიოთერაპევტის და კურორტოლოგის მიხეილ ზანდუკელის ხელმძღვანელობით, რომლის მიხედვითაც საკურორტო ტერიტორია კრწანისის სამთავრობო რეზიდენციამდე 3-4 კმდე უნდა ყოფილიყო გაშლილი. 1938 წელს პროექტი ექსპლუატაციაში შევიდა და თბილისის ბალნეოლოგიურ კურორტში მოღვაწე ექიმები სამედიცინო პროფესურის ელიტას წარმოადგენდნენ.
კურორტის ისტორია კი უკვე 80 წელს ითვლის. იუბილეს სხვადასხვა ქვეყნებიდან მოპატიჟებული წამყვანი ექიმ კურორტოლოგ-რეაბილიტოლოგები, საქართველოს სამედიცინო საზოგადოების წევრები და სხვები ესწრებოდნენ. ისინი კი კონფერენციას თემაზე „კურორტოლოგიის, ფიზიოთერაპიისა და სამედიცინო რეაბილიტაციის აქტუალური სახითხები“ დაესწრნენ. გარდა ამისა იუბილეზე აკადემიკოს იორამ თარხან-მოურავის წიგნის „თბილისი-ბალნეოლოგიური კურორტის“ პრეზენტაცია შედგა.
