After a disastrous Round 6 for series leader Greg Minnaar, the overall title would be decided in the very final moments of the 2017 season. Aaron Gwin, second in the series and gunning hard for the win, put together a perfect first-place qualifier but Minnaar, second in qualifying, would not be relinquishing the title that easily – the two leaders’ times were nearly identical and the race was well and truly on.
