City Surf Project is using surfing to help inner city kids from low-income communities expand their worldview and learn valuable life skills.
Surfers around the world are familiar with the feeling of “zen” they experience after a session. Scientists have taken note, studying the release of adrenaline, dopamine, endorphins and serotonin in surfers.
Since 2014, City Surf Project has enabled underserved youth from the Bay Area to escape the daily challenges of their neighborhoods by getting out and being in the water. The effects are not only an improved sense of physical and psychological well being, but a true understanding of the power of perseverance in learning and mastering a new sport.
